If they don't latch on correctly is there something that I can do?

I think you can bottle feed them if they don't latch properly. You'd need to talk to a vet about that, though.

There are five, and they are quite pretty. Two calico types two tabby types and one kind of a mix.
The Artist has chosen the one she wants if we allow her to keep it (and if it is female). An almost black one...
Cham is turning out to be a good mama. She stayed with them for 24 hrs without leaving their side. I bought her food and water but she didn't get up till this evening.
Slept and purred and nursed.
