She

She being the artist finished a book in a day. Less than a day. less than 3 hrs. really; we came home from the library and she began reading; 175 pages. Nancy Drew. A page a minute.

This is a child who didn't learn to read till she was 8. Basic words at 8; and then she flew! Now I can't get her nose out of a book. She describes it as "eating" and the books "make her read". Four years make such a difference!

All those whose kids aren't reading at the "right" time, take heart. My daughter was the same way. And she is now a fantastic reader.

Now if only I could get her to like math.....................

Remember that not all intellect is Math/Language based.

My daughter was unable to master grade level reading until she was 12. But she has so many other talents.

Thank you for the link!

I've read the book and I agree with the sentiments. THe artist is a genius in some ways, imho...she has a great sense of emotional states and has very sophisticated thought processing; she just doesn't grasp things in stages though. She is more gestalt, which is harder in schools. If I were still homeschooling I would worry less. but schools don't understand things like that, and she weants to be in the school system. She is shy; but she likes having people around her; she likes watching and observing.

I'll have to check out the site.

thanks again,
