I'm Back!!!!!

For those who noticed I have been gone. The MuNu server was quite ill. But it made it and now we are back and running.

Elizabeth asked where the best place to donate money for those who were expelled from Gush Katif. I am looking into the matter, but the best source of information at this point is http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Gush_Katif/

I know of no government agency at this point. Everything is being done by volunteers. I have placed a message on the Gush Katif list and will relay an address, if there is one, as soon as I get an answer.

Welcome back. I've been out of commission too, but I don't have a server to blame. Work is totally cramping my blogging style. :(

I emailed and received information as well from someone at the College of Judea and Samaria, where the entire village of Netzarim is said to be housed. He gave me an American contact to send funds through, but there in Israel it might be best to just contact the college, as they are handling all funds for them for now.

As to our own hurricane disaster...which is huge; I expect that soon trucks for donations will be in parking lots of grocery stores (as is common here in this state) plus we will come across other ways to help. We need to downsize our possessions badly, so hope to be able to give some helpful items that way. I understand they want everyone to vacate New Orleans anyway. My hubby wonders if it will even be rebuilt...I suppose parts of it will be due to the port, etc. that is badly needed there. We personally NEVER give via the Red Cross...they tend to charge people for even cups of coffee in a disaster. Years back I needed to have surgery and wanted to save up my own blood or have friends I knew to donate...I was not permitted to do that because of the Red Cross...go figure as to how they had anything to do with the hospitals decisions...so I signed a paper saying to give me NO blood products NO MATTER WHAT happened in surgery...I did not wish to contact AIDS or other diseases. I made it through fine without any blood, thanks to G-D! But even though the rules on such are different now...we just never advocate giving anything via the Red Cross. They have strayed away from their original beginnings.

Thanks for the information you provide here!
Elizabeth
